Trauma-Informed Motivational Interviewing Fellowship
We’re offering a 10-week training in Trauma-Informed Motivational Interviewing—free of charge to selected Fellows. This is an unpaid Fellowship (no stipend), but all training and materials are provided at no cost. Finalists will be invited to a Zoom interview.
Our standard agency program includes:
10 weeks of live, online training (3 hours/week) (with biweekly small group coaching)
While we typically train entire agency cohorts of 13–25 staff, we recognize that many individual practitioners—especially those serving marginalized or racialized communities—may not have access to this kind of intensive, evidence-based training.
Through this Fellowship, we reserve 1–2 no-cost spots in each agency training cohort. Fellows are matched with an agency currently scheduled for training, ideally in the same service area they work in (e.g., adult mental health, child welfare). We also provide one-on-one mentoring at no cost.
This opportunity is especially intended for BIPOC practitioners and those who primarily serve marginalized communities.
Commitment
Participants are expected to:
attend training each week for ten weeks. Training is 3 hours and interactive.
Some reading is required between meetings. We provide materials. We will ask you to practice a specific skill each week and debrief about your success and struggles.
You will be asked to bring case examples, role play, and actively participate in training and post-training coaching. Coaching groups are approx 4-6 people, and participants take turns staffing cases and practicing skills.
In exchange for free extensive training, we will ask you to meet with us one time to offer feedback about how to improve the cultural responsiveness of our training, drawing upon your practice experience. We will add you to an advisory board to occasionally offer feedback on new material.
You need permission and support from your employer to participate.
You need to be able to use camera and sound on Zoom.
To apply
We provide fellowships when possible for trained social workers who otherwise wouldn't have access to Motivational Interviewing Training. Supervisor permission is required. Please contact Melanie Sage.
