Trauma-Informed Motivational Interviewing Training & Implementation Support

We help large agencies and states meet Family First requirements with high-fidelity training, coaching, and implementation support.

Our 10-week online program blends skill-building with real-world practice. Participants learn new skills one week, apply them in the field, and return the next week for coaching that includes role play, case consultation, and feedback. This every-other-week coaching model builds skills step-by-step and helps avoid cognitive overload.

We’ve been teaching MI and other practice skills online for 12+ years. While COVID shifted most of our work online, we’ve found this format is more effective because it offers:

  • Wider access to high-quality training

  • Small-group breakout rooms for targeted feedback

  • Flexible scheduling (it typically takes 3 hours/week over 10 weeks vs. exhausting multi-day sessions in order to support workers in reaching strong fidelity per Family First standards)

  • Built-in opportunities to practice, reflect, and revisit skills

  • Coaching and admin support without costly travel

Our sessions are highly interactive—no more than 20 minutes of presentation at a time. We move quickly between short lessons, discussion, large-group practice, breakouts, and debriefs to keep learning active and engaging.

Fees:

  • $500 setup per 10-week session (all training is customized to your agency’s policies and practices)

  • $500/hour for training (we always use two trainers to balance attention to the group, trainer fatigue, and give learners multiple perspectives)

  • $300/hour for small-group coaching (up to 10 people)

  • $250/hour for administrative support (implementation, research, Family First planning, etc)

Annual packages for 20–60 staff—covering training through the intermediate level, regular coaching, supervisor support, and sustainability planning—start at $20k.

📅 Schedule a meeting with us here to explore how we can support your team, or send me an email at melaniesage@gmail.com if you have questions.

We keep our rates low through ongoing relationships and positive referrals which mean we always have enough work and choose who to work with based on their readiness for organizational change and dedication to implementation. We hope you’ll compare our rates, services, and approach. We work with a limited number of organizations at once.

After training, we have each learner submit a sample recording. We provide recorded feedback for the submission, and if fidelity is not met we meet with the learner to provide in-vivo (real time) feedback during a new interview.

Coaching & Consultation

We sometimes offer coaching to people who have used MI in the past and would like to sharpen and maintain their skills.

We also offer consultation to agencies regarding implementation supports of MI as an EBP. Please feel free to reach out.
